Peace Out(doors) @ Ft. Hunter

Peace Out(doors) offers an opportunity to reflect and re-center as the week begins.

Participants bring camp chairs, and we sit in a circle around a small table furnished a Bible, a vessel of water, and a symbol for the day. We begin our time with a sacred reading, move to a time of centering, share a couple more sacred readings, and spend a few minutes in silence and prayer. Then we enjoy a few minutes of fellowship before concluding our time together.

We typically meet on City Island, but this week we will be at an alternate location. We’ll be meeting at Ft. Hunter Park. Park in the lot near the covered bridge. We’ll meet near the picnic tables between the bridge and the playground. Note this is on the east side of Front Street, not the west side along the river.

Please bring a camp chair or other portable seating.

Hike at Cove Mountain Preserve

Join us at Cove Mountain Preserve for a hike. We'll be meeting in the parking lot at the top of Sylvan Street near the trailhead at 5:00. Look for the Intertwined sail sign. We'll choose which trail to hike based on the preferences of those who attend.
Most trails are not long, but they are rocky and include inclines. Note also there are no bathrooms on-premises.

Sojourning through Scripture

What questions do you have about the Bible that you've never asked? Are there any passages you find challenging? How did this collection of writings that span centuries come together? What might they mean for us today? Join us as we explore scripture together. No experience necessary.

If it's your first time, look for Pastor Kevin - he will probably be wearing an Intertwined vest or t-shirt. You do not need to bring a Bible to participate; handouts are provided.

Witness for People & Planet

Join us for a walk and witness through Harrisburg supporting the livability of the world we inhabit. This is a focused, interfaith event supporting ecological justice. Bring your signs with messaging supporting the health of our environment (and policies doing the same).
We will meet at the City Island end of the Walnut Street foot bridge. We'll carry our signs across the bridge, then along the river to Kunkel Plaza, then down State Street to the state capitol steps, where we will be led in prayer by local faith leaders.

The walk from City Island to the capitol is less than one mile.

The purpose of this witness is to demonstrate that people of faith support policies that will protect the livability of the planet we inhabit, to call out the corruption that prevents those policies from being enacted, and to leave space for the divine in our efforts to defend God's good creation.

This event is a partnership with GreenFaith. If you would like to register for the event (not required), visit the Harrisburg GreenFaith Circle web site.
